Representative Morrow Selected for Emerging Political Leader Program
Posted by Terry Morrow under Around the DistrictSt. Paul, MN – In recognition of his exemplary leadership as a first-term state legislator, State Representative Terry Morrow (DFL-St. Peter) has been selected to participate in the 2008 Program for Emerging Political Leaders at the University of Virginia.
The Emerging Leaders Program is a collaborative effort of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business Administration. Rep. Morrow is one of 50 legislators from 35 states who were chosen to participate. The program selects participants “who by their every day actions, display those qualities—integrity, intelligence, common sense, dedication to the institution they serve and the willingness to work across party lines for the benefit of the people–that we commonly identify with our finest legislative leaders.”

“I am honored and excited to be nominated and accepted to this leadership program,” said Morrow. “I look forward to working with experts from the entire country. As a teacher, I appreciate the opportunity to learn from America’s political and business leaders.”
The legislators will convene for three days at the University of Virginia, where they will participate in interactive classroom discussions, and be given numerous opportunities to measure their expertise and knowledge against some of the most successful political and business leaders in the nation.
As a first term legislator, Rep. Morrow has assumed several leadership roles, including serving as Vice-Chair of the K-12 Education Finance Committee and as a conferee on the Transportation Conference Committee in both 2007 and 2008. In addition, he was appointed by Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher to the new School Finance Reform Task Force and the bipartisan Bridge Investigation Committee that was created following the collapse of the I-35 bridge.
